Prepare for Your Puppy

Dear Puppy Family,

We are so excited for you to be our puppy’s new family! We know you realize what a big responsibility your new pet will be and we want to help you all we can. We will give you a folder of information when you get your puppy, but there are some things you may want to get ready before your new family member comes home. Here is a checklist of somethings you will want to have ready. We have included links to our favorite products on Amazon so you can see what we are referring to. 

 

1. Preparing Your Home:

Puppy-Proofing: Remove any potential hazards such as toxic plants, electrical cords, and small objects that could be swallowed.

Create a Safe Space: Set up a designated area with a comfortable bed, food and water bowls, and some toys where your puppy can retreat to when needed.

Stock Up on Supplies: Purchase the essential items listed:

• A Crate -- Make sure it’s big enough to grow into, but not to big that they feel lost. One with a divider is ideal

• dog bed

• Potty Pads, Waste Pick-up Bags and wood pellets

• Food and Water Bowls

• Collar and Leash

• Training Treats

• Puppy Toys

2. Health and Safety:

- Schedule a Vet Visit: Make an appointment with a trusted veterinarian to ensure your puppy is healthy, up to date on vaccinations, and to discuss preventive care.

- Microchipping and Identification: Consider microchipping your puppy for added safety and ensure they wear a collar with an ID tag containing your contact information.

3. Nutrition and Feeding:

- Choose the Right Food: Consult your vet to determine the best diet for your puppy's breed, age, and size. Opt for high-quality, age-appropriate puppy food.

We also give all our dogs a nutritional supplement. The brand we use is NuVet, and we highly recommend. We are transparent about the fact that we get an incentive from NuVet, but that’s not why we recommend it. We have seen some amazing results with our own dogs. Our oldest dog, Bullet was struggling to get up and walk around before we started giving him the supplements. Now two years later, he plays as if he’s years younger, running and jumping like he did before.
